We utilize the highly advanced Sciton BBL device to rejuvenate the skin via Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). IPL uses light energy on the upper layers of your skin while delivering beneficial thermal energy to the subcutaneous layers of tissue to stimulate collagen production. IPL is a non-invasive, non-ablative therapy that provides immediate results that continue to improve over time.
Before your treatment, we will prepare the targeted area with a cold gel. The Sciton BBL handpiece is gently guided across your skin, delivering precise pulses of light to the specified areas. The IPL treatment may be described as a hot snap of a rubber band. If you find the procedure uncomfortable, we can apply a topical anesthetic cream to the area.
While there is little recovery required after your IPL therapy, it is imperative that you minimize your exposure to the sun after your treatments. We suggest a high SPF sunscreen with a physical block, like zinc or titanium, and large sunglasses that provide maximum coverage and UV protection.
After completing your scheduled IPL treatments, you will have softer, smoother, lighter, more youthful and uniform-looking skin. Your skin will continue to create new collagen fibres, providing you with the elasticity and glow that we associate with young, healthy skin. You should schedule annual maintenance treatments to continue to enjoy the benefits of your improved look and boosted collagen levels.
Broad Band Light (BBL) is a popular alternative to ablative therapies for treating rosacea, broken capillaries (spider veins), red scars, and brown spots on your face, neck, chest, arms, hands, and legs. With IPL you can experience exceptional results without skin irritation, scabs, or redness.IPL skin rejuvenation improves the texture, quality, tone, and health of your skin by using a non-ablative light based technology to emit intense pulses of light that target chromophores (pigment) in the skin’s deeper layers (dermis). IPL differs from laser technology as it only targets the deeper layers of the skin while not affecting the top layer (epidermis) and thus this treatment is considered a non-ablative therapy with minimal downtime. The light is absorbed as heat, which destroys the pigment and improves red and brown discoloration of the skin. In fact, this procedure can be done over a lunch hour and you can return to work immediately. In your personal consultation session, we will identify the areas you would like to improve and create a schedule of treatments to ensure you get the best results.
