Is CoolSculpting® Right For You?

You eat a well balanced diet, you drink more than your daily recommended amount of water, and with COVID-19, you’ve switched from hitting the gym to hitting the home gym, sweating it out regularly. You do everything you can to look and feel healthy, but you still have a few bulges that just won’t budge. It’s time to consider CoolSculpting.

CoolSculpting is a Health Canada-approved, non-invasive treatment that targets stubborn fat on the arms, thighs, bra line, love handles, chin and abdomen. It works by using next-generation cooling technology to freeze sub-cutaneous fat cells, causing them to crystallize. The body’s natural immune system eliminates these crystallized cells, which leads to fat reduction in the desired area.  While it is not a weight loss procedure, patients normally see a 22-23% reduction in the amount of fat in the targeted area.  Some even drop up to two clothing sizes.

Because it is safe, effective and permanent, CoolSculpting has become one of the most popular treatments throughout North America. Locally, Baker Rejuvenation Centre was one of the first clinics in British Columbia to offer this technology to patients, quickly becoming a noted centre of excellence due to their outstanding results.

After an initial consultation to ensure patients are a good fit for the procedure, a CoolSculpting treatment typically lasts from one to three hours. A gel pad and applicator is applied to the targeted area, during which time the patient can read, check their phone, or just rest and relax. There is little to no downtime or discomfort, with minimal steps to recovery. While some patients may experience temporary pain or discomfort, redness, swelling, bruising, cramping, tingling, numbness or itching, most can return to their normal activities immediately after treatment.

Ideal candidates for CoolSculpting are those who are close to their ideal body weight, with stubborn fat deposits that won’t go away on their own. Some patients see results in as quickly as three weeks, but the most dramatic results typically take 1-3 months – meaning with summer just around the corner, now is the perfect time to book a consultation.
