In Your 20s

Here are some recommendations to help you enjoy what you see in the mirror. In your personal consultation session, we will work with you to identify specific treatments to help you find – and keep – the look you want. To enjoy your healthy, youthful look for the rest of your life, it’s important to establish a regular routine that incorporates proper nutrition, regular exercise, and effective protection from the elements. Starting early is a great way to ensure you are able to prevent damage and maintain a natural youthful appearance for the rest of your life. For our patients in their twenties, we recommend the following:

Lifestyle

Your body is only able to work with what you put in it, so make sure you’re fueling yourself with the right nutrients. Water is not only essential for our survival, it plays a critical role in maintaining our skin’s natural elasticity. Omega 3 fish oils, multivitamins and supplements, as well as an effective skin care regimen should be an important part of your daily routine. At the Baker Rejuvenation Centre we offer supplements and skin care specifically designed to maintain beautiful, healthy skin.

Minimizing your exposure to the damaging UVA rays of the sun is important every day of the year. We recommend you choose sun protection with an SPF of 15 or greater and ensure that the ingredients include a physical block (zinc and/or titanium) as well as chemical sunblocks to protect your skin from the damaging UVA rays (active throughout the year) and UVB rays (most active from May – September). Wearing protective sunglasses (also with UVA and UVB protection) will shield the delicate skin around your eyes from the damaging effects of the sun, wind, and airborne pollutants.

Treatment Considerations

In this stage of your life you should be focused on preventative measures over restorative options. Sugar has been linked to glycation, a natural process that robs your skin of its natural elasticity, and smoking has been found to speed up the aging process of your skin. Both of these avoidable choices can increase the occurrence of wrinkles and skin damage.

Using medical-grade skin care instead of department or drug store products, developing a regular exfoliating routine using weekly at-home or monthly in-office peels, maintaining a nutritional diet, and protecting your skin from UVA and UVB rays can help you create a healthy foundation for your skin and body.

If you’re in your mid to late 20’s, Botox may be used as a preventative measure to keep wrinkles at bay, particularly between the brows and forehead. At the Baker Rejuvenation Centre, we practice a conservative approach with all of our injectable treatments.

Laser Hair Removal is an effective alternative to waxing, and we have researched the available options to find the technology that provides the best results with the least amount of discomfort.
