Fall is 'Laser Season' for The Skin

There is no more interesting time in the intersection between technology and beauty than the current day. Aesthetic lasers have become women’s (and men’s) best friend as the ever-evolving list of treatments are performed quickly, easily and with short recovery times.

The Fotona system, the most advanced laser technology available at Baker Rejuvenation Centre, is a wonder-machine working to restore the skin’s surface. The reason Fotona is so effective is two fold as the system has two lasers. To get technical for a moment, the Nd:YAG laser is a crystal that uses thermal energy to resurface the skin. It is deemed the ‘work horse’ in the reduction of pore size and fine lines, as it breaks down deep-lying structures in the skin. All this is combined with the Er:YAG laser, which targets visible blood vessels (and capillaries) around the nose and on the cheeks.

What this means to you? These lasers work to remove: sun damage, acne, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, hair (painlessly and on all skin types) and to name just a few of the ways they are effective. Laser treatments are the most effective way to care for aging skin, they tighten skin as well as reduce wrinkles, age spots, acne scars and other blemishes.

Depending on the treatment recovery times can vary. Fotona is highly advanced and non-evasive so recovery times are minimal, from no time at all to a few days. Procedures may slightly sting, like a small snapping of an elastic band against the skin surface or be completely painless.

Fall is considered ‘laser season’ for the skin because laser-treated skin can be hypersensitive to sun exposure, and heat, so many people undergo laser resurfacing during fall and winter months. However, no matter the time of year you have a laser procedure, always wear a broad-spectrum SPF, we recommend the SPF 50 Physical Fusion by Skinceuticals.
