Treatment Overview

The principle behind collagen induction therapy, sometimes called facial needling, is quite simple; use a dermaroller to break up the subcutaneous collagen strands and trigger the production of collagen. Collagen is the connective tissue that provides the elasticity necessary to develop healthy, younger looking skin.

How It Works

To stimulate the production of collagen, you will use a medical-grade handheld skin roller filled with tiny micro-needles on the area you’d like to improve. The roller creates tiny holes in your epidermis, the outer layer of skin, which allow vitamins and nutrients to be absorbed deeper into the skin as opposed to just being applied to the surface. To maximize the effects of our skin care treatments, our team may recommend collagen induction therapy to continue the creation of collagen and elastin over time.

Recovery Time

Collagen Induction Therapy is completed in the comfort of your own home, where you can adjust the amount of pressure to your comfort level. The pressure applied is gentle and is comparable to using a paint brush. For most of our patients, the redness and sensitivity goes away in a few days. Used in conjunction with a serum of vitamins A, C, and E, your recovery time should be minimal.

Results

As your skin heals it will become tighter, lighter, and brighter almost immediately, with scars and wrinkles fading regularly. You can begin to see results after a few months as the skins cellular turnover cycle is approximately one month. This cost effective medical-grade treatment helps your body create collagen and elastin to help you look better now and years from now.

Additional information

Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is a simple procedure that can be performed at home as part of your skin care regimen. CIT is a non-surgical and non-ablative treatment for a wide variety of skin conditions, including wrinkles and lax skin, as well as scarring, photodamage (sun damage), and hyperpigmentation (also known as age or brown spots). By stimulating your body to start producing collagen, you can actually help reverse the signs of aging. When you start using CIT we take photographs so we can objectively track your improvement over time.
CIT is a cost effective treatment, priced below ablative treatments such as laser resurfacing, with most patients developing evenly toned skin, pigment reduction, and minimization of fine lines and wrinkles.
